This is my final design of my magazine cover.

The font I have used is Century Gothic, which is sans serif, I chose this because it is easy to read and I have also used this font for the contents page too. I have made the font at the top of the magazine black, because it is easy to read and is eye catching to the reader. I made the title "Jump!" in bold because it is the main part of the magazine and I want people to be fimilar with the name of the magazine. The other text on the magazine is in white, because it is easier to read against the image, unlike if I chose black font, which was very hard to read. The background of the magazine is light blue, I chose this because it is bright and eye catching and it also works well with the image as he is wearing a blue t-shirt. I think the image works well on the magazine, as he is looking at the camera, which gives the impression that hes looking at the reader.

Here is my finished contents page. I have made the contents page very simple so it is easy to read.

I have used black font, because it is easy to read and bold. The font i have used throughout the front cover and contents page is Century Gothic, because I think that it is easy to read.

I put two columns on the contents page. The first column will have the page numbers and what is in the magazine. The second column will be divided into two, at the top will be a photo of the editor of the magazine, followed by a brief paragraph welcoming you to the magazine. At the bottom will be a advert.

This is the image that i have chosen for my front cover, because it is simple and clear.

He is also looking directly at the camera, which is important for the audience as they feel like they are connected to the magazine and the person on the front cover.

I also think that the image is bright and easy to see, unlike the other image which is dark and not very easy to see.

The image is very simple, with not much going on in the background so you can easily see who the person is on the cover.

This is one of the other pictures I took. I didn't choose this image, because I don't think it is very clear and the image is quite dark.

The person is also not looking at the camera, which would not be sutiable for the front cover as the person/model needs to be looking at the camera, as it looks like the person on the magazine is looking at the audience, which makes the audience feel connected to the magazine.

There is also alot going on in the picture. There is someone else in the picture and there is quite alot of background, which doesnt make the image very clear and simple to be on the front cover of a magazine.

Sussex Downs College AS Media Studies Lucie Morgan

The preliminary task will involve designing a new front cover for the college magazine and a contents page. My work will be done in Adobe InDesign and using my own original photographs.
We will also have to write a blog describing how we designed the front cover.

I then took some pictures for the front cover of my college magazine. I took three different pictures and I then decided which one was best for my front cover. Next I done a draft for the front cover and choose a name for the magazine (Jump). Then I started to design my front cover on Adobe InDesign.
